Fields for our Future Pledge

In 2025 ahead of the municipal election, CMSA with the support of its membership, encouraged candidates to pledge their support to Fields for our Future. CMSA is pleased to see the growing commitment toward improving soccer infrastructure with 14 candidates signing the Fields for Our Future pledge before election day; 6 of whom now sit on council. Other members of council have actively voiced support, including Mayor, Jeromy Farkas, who shared his support for the campaign on social media.

There is still more work ahead to address Calgary’s field space shortage, and we invite you to join the movement below to help keep the momentum going.

Council Support

Following city Budget Consultations in November of 2025, City Council voted UNANIMOUSLY to invest $65 million in the new Northeast Athletic Complex and to approve $28.7 million in major recreation upgrades across the city.

This funding will open doors for thousands of kids and will give children a safe and accessible place to play the game they love.

What Council Approved:

  • $65 million in 2026 for Infrastructure Services to deliver the Northeast Athletic Complex

  • $28.7 million in 2026 for Infrastructure Services to advance planning and design for upgrades to key GamePLAN priorities, including Shouldice Athletic Park, the Rocky Ridge Fieldhouse, and the Belmont Recreation Centre, among others

We are grateful to Calgary’s new Mayor and the members of City Council for listening to our community and recognizing the importance of this investment. Their commitment gives thousands of young players the opportunity to play the game they love in safe and accessible spaces.

This milestone is significant, but it is not the end of our ‘Fields for Our Future’ work. Together, we have built real momentum, and CMSA will continue advocating for the facilities and opportunities that our players need today and for generations to come.
