The Urgent Need
With limited field space and no new indoor facilities in sight, we are dangerously close to being forced to post “no vacancy” signs on every soccer facility in the city.
More than 30,000 kids registered to play soccer this year, a number that’s grown over 10% year-over-year, and the demand for indoor games even outpaced Calgary’s rate of growth with a two-to-one increase in bookings in 2023.
With existing facilities facing issues of overcrowding, games are being held in places not meant for kids playing soccer like school gymnasiums, warehouses, and church basements.
We’re Falling Behind
Compared to the rest of Western Canada, Calgary and Southern Alberta are rapidly falling behind. Cities like Winnipeg, Edmonton, and others have moved ahead with major new investments in year-round facilities. Calgary should be a leader, not playing catch up.
The Cost of Inaction
The consequences of inaction are real, and they are here today. Without strategic investments in world-class infrastructure to meet the growing need for Calgary and Southern Alberta, we will risk pushing kids away from the game and harm the ability to give kids and families year-round opportunities in the game.
The Solution
Let’s Do Something Special
The solution is simple: we need to make sure our kids have the space to play soccer and increase investments in those spaces.
This means we need to play catch-up and meet the existing demand, this starts with investments in new year-round facilities. That can happen with just a couple of clicks today and sending a message to elected officials.
We Can Be Leaders
Building a new world-class facility isn’t just about keeping up with demand—it’s about seizing an opportunity to make Calgary a leader in soccer for Western Canada. With soccer participation skyrocketing, our city has a chance to secure its place as a hub for young talent and community development.
The impact of a new world-class fieldhouse goes beyond the pitch—it’s an investment in Calgary’s future and will:
• Provide year-round spaces for training, development, and tournaments.
• Create thousands of jobs during construction and operation.
• Boost the local economy by attracting visitors, tournaments, and events.
• Strengthen community ties and promote active, healthy lifestyles for all.
Your voice is key to helping make this happen. Join the campaign. Let’s build something extraordinary.
